History: Wiki linkPersonality: By nature, a demon craves and is only satiated by the taste of human souls. This is to where some would go mad, targeting as many people as possible and trying to feast as often and viciously as possible. It's simply out of aesthetic that a demon will always follow their master's orders. Some go through the traditional motions of following the contract, anticipating the moment they get their payment. Those like Sebastian, who have more control, opt to cultivate a soul with potential, feeling that the flavor and full-bodiedness of a particular kind of soul is worth all the wait in the world. Then you come across Hannah, who has been through so many years that she had gotten past the hunger and grew so bored of the 'game' that she hadn't felt the need to feast on souls for a very long time. Having overcome that hunger and desire, she had gotten 'above' it all. It's because she was someone who was simply going through the motions, subjugating other demons to pamper and care for her, that it took getting her
interest to accept a summons and contract. Which, in this particular case, was Luca; A young boy that made this contract, not for his own means or desires, but for the sole purpose of making his brother happy.
Something about a contract and soul making these decisions out of love was the very thing that caught Hannah's attention and curiosity. In an attempt to understand, and not wanting to treat the boy like any other 'prize', she
absorbed his soul instead of simply eating it. This gave the demon something that no other really had the true capacity for- the ability to recognize and feel
love.
Which might sound weird, but the history is important to the context on the kind of person she was before 'dying.' After all, in the world of spiders, it's the female who has the power here.
After all, following this event, Hannah started to show her truly manipulative and cunning side. In order to complete Luca's dying wish (which wasn't part of his contract, so a personal choice for her,) Hannah found the right demon to take lead on handling Jim/Alois, which included changing the hierarchy between them and the triplet demons to complete the ruse. Though it clearly went a level where even Claude hadn't been fully aware of how deeply this went. Fulfilling the boy's wish, because she loved him (who loved his brother very deeply,) she tolerated everything. Which isn't hyperbole. This went from general and extreme humiliation, abuse and tolerating Jim destroying her
eye, as well as taking whatever hits were necessary. If he ordered her to strip, then it's exactly that she would do, even if someone was watching. She would buy time and fight a reaper until she was impaled by their scythe. For love, and to make Jim truly happy in the end, she could handle it all. Hannah played the complicit, quiet maid that held her tongue and allowed anything to happen to her, if it was what her Master wished. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, adjusting other people's choices to get a better reaction and bring back happy memories. After all, it's not as if she needed the credit- it's the smile and bringing back that warm feeling that mattered to her.
It's not until such an act is no longer needed that you realize she has no qualms about mocking another's choices on priorities (fixing your clothes right away, instead of when it was more suitable? Hah,) or forcing other demons' hands. Not even death will stop her goals. She'll use what she knows to
continue the soul's life, manipulating two souls to become interchangeable in a single body, and take the contracts of two other demons to create her own. Staying in control, she'll pull other demons along until they're dueling to the death for their 'prize.' One that remained unobtainable, setting it so that she was the only one who was happy and had fulfilled that wish. To have Jim be happy, to know love, and to be with his brother once again. To choose death herself, so that she, Claude, Jim and Luca could all reach 'Nirvana' together, while leaving Sebastian forever stuck with a master that he'd never be able to consume after she made Ciel a demon. Because that was the wish in Jim's contract; to make Ciel's soul unobtainable to either of the demons. It's amazing what things could be accomplished when full of love.
Even without her memories, many things would remain the same. While still capable, and full of love, without the known target it would start to translate into something that followed suit with her nature. Instead of following aesthetic, it would be out of loyalty and devotion that had her following the orders of her master (or god, in this case,) though strictly that. It wouldn't stop her actions, as long as they didn't contradict those orders. Which is why, unless it was explicitly ordered (as this isn't the same nature of contracts,) Hannah wouldn't fight or try to stop someone from
also naming and turning her into a nora. It's just that the first god's orders and standing are absolute, and she wouldn't betray that.
Until finding her feet and deciding on her purpose, Hannah would likely start out as being incredibly reserved, following the simple motions that a maid normally would. There isn't any worry about her trying to feast on the souls of all those around her either, as it's something she had outgrown
very long ago. It's when things start to feel 'safe' and steady that bring out the more confident and easy to respond side. After all, while a demon, she was one that had the age, strength and confidence to be pampered by lesser demons. There's an elegant, dominating personality, even past all the ennui, that couldn't just be erased.
Abilities: Because there are some things unique to Hannah, I'm going to link to
the wiki page on demons for a blanket statement on a demon's abilities overall. The general demon abilities go from dramatic fire manipulation, being able to handle injuries that would be fatal to normal people, shape shifting, heightened abilities and so forth. It's all detailed better in the linked wiki.
Now for something that's specific to Hannah (and noted to be a sign of how powerful she really was,) is that she's a living sheath. This means that she can hold a multitude of weapons, regardless of their size,
inside her body. Three of the most notable examples of this is when she rips open her chest and pulls a gun out of her chest, the Gatling machine gun that sort of 'pops' down when she crouches, and Lævateinn, which is pulled out from her mouth.
While the first two examples could very well be man-made, Lævateinn is an ancient and unique sword that seemed to primarily be made for the purpose of letting demons fight things out with each other to the death. While it would bring a soul to a complete end (sort of like skipping a step with death scythes in the Black Butler world,) the more interesting thing is that this sword is meant to deliver fatal blows to demons. So the fact that Hannah can have this both sheathed and pulled out from her body, without any sort of injury, either implies how ancient and connected she is to the sword, or to her capabilities to hold any sort of weapon inside her. It may even be both.
Less unique, but probably more an example to her experience, Hannah knows how to actually manipulate contracts for her own purposes. When Alois/Jim is dying, she takes on his wish and eats his eyeball so that both could continue on, manipulating souls inside rings and using hypnotism on Ciel so that he also had enough of Jim's soul to count as both masters. With both of their contracts with her, it morphed into a new contract
seal, which showed up on her eye. Also, in carrying out Jim's contract, whether it's general knowledge or something that she's picked up through her time, Hannah was able to turn Ciel into a demon so that 'Sebastian will never get what he's wanted.'
Aside from this, Hannah also has some more mundane skills. One of which includes a musical talent- not so surprising with her age, but she was tasked with using a glass harmonica to hypnotize a ballroom full of people. With this and her firearm experience, Hannah probably has a bunch of random 'talents' that have been acquired throughout the years.
Strengths: Loyal, Patient, Loving, Reserved, Experienced
Weaknesses: Complicit, Manipulative, Quiet, Languid, Shameless
God/Shinki: Shinki
Why?: Aside from her having an actual ending, as much as it is for them, demons
do make contracts to serve people. This might not have the typical end, but if she were a god, Hannah might end up being as listless as she was before meeting Luka.
Cause Of Death: At the very end of Kuroshitsuji II, Hannah had collected Claude's body and stayed with him as a whirlpool consumed the part of the island they were on. She pulled Lævateinn out of Claude's body to lay with it and him, and after long enough, she managed to drown 'peacefully'?
Vessel: LævateinnName Location: Between her breasts
Power: Essence absorption - While unable to bring things to an end, cutting and making contact with the sword will cause Hannah to absorb their soul/spirit/energy, depending on what there is. This not only feeds Hannah a small amount, but invigorates the god as well. The amount depends on the duration and severity of the contact, as more of either will lead to further absorption.
